Assoc Prof Loh Nee Lam
Dean of Admissions
Nanyang Technological University

I'm accepted for admission into Nanyang!!!!!

O.M.G.

I'M GOING TO SINGAPORE!!!!!

YOU CAN'T IMAGINE HOW FUCKING HAPPY I AM!!!!

Unfashionable

Me: Are you a naughty girl?
My six-year-old cousin: No.
Me: Are you not a naughty girl?
Msyoc: Yes.
Me: Are you not not not a naughty girl?

After 5 seconds...

Mysoc: Yes.

Damn, she's smart.

***

Damn fucking stressed out.

Exam papers to sort out (trust me, that's seriously hard work), P.E. test due next Friday (and I'm not done with class 2B yet), Origami papers flying all over the place, books to correct, stuff to pack/sort out (we're moving house on the 7th of May!! Yay!!!! Goodbye, old 700sq flat. Hello, 3 storey semi-D!!!), and students are commenting that I'm rewearing my clothes to school (yes, that stresses me out, too).

Shit.

My reputation is ruined. Now people are gonna think I'm one of those unfashionables who wear the same dress every other day 'cause they're not bothered whether people remember what they wear or not. Of course, maybe the reason they're not bothered to keep track of what they've worn the day before is because nobody bothers to look at them in the first place.

But I'm different. Students love me. They think I'm the most fashionable teacher in the entire school. Which, of course, is an easy-to-get title, considering the fact that most of the teachers are middle-aged/close to being middle-aged, thus, making me one of the very few eligible ones.

And so.

The students actually do notice what I wear.

So far, I have been able to keep track of what I wear everyday, so that I only repeat my clothes once at least every fortnight.

However, today I made a grave mistake.

I wore a dress which I just wore last week.

Last week!!!

When the dress is still fresh in the memories of most people, I make the huge mistake of wearing it again.

Another lesson I learnt today: DO NOT wear the same kind of dresses two few days in a row. For example, if you wear a baby dress on Monday, never a baby dress again the next day. Even if it may be a completely different dress, some unobservant people may think you're wearing the same dress over and over because they're the same type.

So if you wear a baby dress on Monday, try wearing a blouse and a flowing skirt on Tuesday instead. Then, on Wednesday, wear something chic. The safest time to wear a baby dress again (most preferably one which is distinctively different from the one worn on Monday) would be on Thursday.

Similarly, if you wear something flowery on the first day, it's a good idea to pick something plain the next day.

I notice I have deviated far, far from the main topic of discussion.

Being stressed.

So, yes, I'm stressed out. And I don't remember what I wore 2 days ago.

Big disaster.

Congratulations to Heng Wei Lyn (I hope I spelled her name correctly) for beating all the other public speakers flat and achieving the highly coveted Johan.

Compared to her, all the other speakers seemed like amateurs.

MGS RAWKS!!!!

Kevin is coming back on the 8th of May.

He owes me a dinner buffet.

Shopaholic turns broke.

Shopping at Queensbay. With Yokey, Martina, and Erdiana.

I borrowed RM 100 from my mum before I went out. Unfortunately, I left home without the money.

Was moping the entire time.

Ate only three plates of sushi at Sakae Sushi, because I had to be thrifty.

Martina still spent less than I did, without even trying.

To think that I tried so hard not to spend, and my dinner still cost a few bucks more than hers.

Left Sakae Sushi with a (huge) hole in my pocket.

Moped around because I was still hungry, despite the fact that I'd already spent TEN FREAKING BUCKS (yes, I know that's not like a whole lot of money, but it was to me at that time because I was broke) on my dinner.

Bought a new pair of Croc shoes.

Yes, I know I already have a pair at home, and it's utterly unnecessary to get a new pair.

But I was feeling impulsive today.

I'm a shopaholic, remember?

Besides, they aren't any normal Croc shoes. They're the Christmas Edition kind.

Look:
See! The shoes even have 'fleece' at the soles and the sides!!!

Don't blame me. The shoes have fleece!!! They have fleece!!! It's not everyday that you encounter shoes with fleece.

Fleece!!!

The fleece justifies my impulsive and utterly unnecessary purchase of the shoes.

And, yes, my shoes are the exact colour as the ones shown above.

I think I'll get a 'Santa suit' this Christmas. And I'll wear it with the matching shoes.

Furry and comfy, they are.

Love them, I do.

I JUST had to get them once I laid eyes on them.

Too cute.

RM 169.90.

Plus a cute little Gary (the snail from Spongebob Squarepants) pin (the cute rubber things u stick onto the ventilation holes).

RM 9.90.

Moped even more after buying the Croc shoes, because I owed Yokey a whole lot of money after that.

A. WHOLE. FREAKING. LOT.

How much?

RM 180.00.

Went for the MGS concert, A Musical Evening 3. Was 30 minutes late for it because we shopped a little too long.

Okay, I shopped a little too long.

By the time we arrived at the concert, we had already missed the entire orchestra's performance.

Sob, sob.

Watched the school choir sing a few songs.

Left during the 20 minute interval, because they (yes, they. I wanted to stay on but they didn't want to) didn't want to stay to watch the Jazz Band from USM.

"Let's go play else where," said Yokey.

"Play". Gosh. That sounded so wrong.

All in all, we only watched about 20 minutes or so of the entire concert, which was supposed to last 2 hours.

After we left, we couldn't decide where to go next.

Drived aimlessly while singing (or rather, yelling) to the song 'Low'.

I love Flo-Rida.

Almost got lost.

Finally decided to visit Gurney Drive, but there was no place to park the car. So we went to 1 Stop instead.

Bad idea.

The parking fee was TWO FREAKING BUCKS (by that time, I was really broke. Only had 30 cents with me) and there was practically NOTHING in 1 Stop.

Nil.

So we decided to leave the place.

However, not wanting to waste the two bucks we paid for the parking fee, we decided to walk to Gurney Plaza.

Sheesh. Should have parked our car there in the first place.

Had supper at Secret Recipe.

Correction. They had supper at Secret Recipe. I just sat and watched.

It sucks being cash-less.

But now I'm fine again.

Dad gave me the remedy.

I got my May allowance early, plus a little extra.

Yes, I still get an allowance even though I have a job right now.

According to my father's logic, "Now that you're working, you'll need to spend more money."

So he raised my allowance by a hundred bucks.

Plus that little extra, you can bet I've got a lot of cash right now.

I know he's gonna spoil me this way. I'm so tempted to return him some of the cash and tell him I don't really need that much, but that's just so not me.

A shopaholic, returning her dad cash, just because she "doesn't need it".

You can imagine how much he gave me.

Oh, well. Call me a spoiled brat, but I think I'm just a very lucky girl.

wallpapers

Wallpapers.

Dya think of fancy computer desktops or bedroom walls with creative patterns?

***

Was Googling for fancy wallpapers for my new home.

Home as in, my real house.

Not my computer.

Google seemed to think otherwise.

I typed "wallpapers" as my keyword.

Results?

Tons and tons and tons of 'cool wallpapers for your desktop's and 'your computer will never look the same again's.

I rephrased my keywords.

"Glow-in-the-dark wallpapers." (because I was actually looking for this wallpaper which has glow-in-the-dark patterns on it. I've seen one with glow-in-the-dark hearts imprinted on it, and it's sooooo pretty!!)

Results?

"Glow in the dark wallpapers for your desktop!!"

Can glow-in-the-dark wallpapers actually glow in the dark on computer screens?

The last time I checked, computer screens usually glow when switched on, even without any glow-in-the-dark effects.

Regardless of whether it is dark or not.

Out of curiosity, I clicked on the links.

I saw images of 'glowing'
images on a black backdrop.

Ahh.... So that's what they meant...

I tried my luck again:

"Wallpapers for rooms."

Finally got what I wanted.

Thankfully, Google was smart enough to finally realise what I was searching for.

People are getting overly technologically inclined these days.

Not that I'm complaining.

I'm not in the habit of forgiving others.

More than just a friend.

1st month.

We were friends.

He cried inside. I was facing critical times.

Like all true friends are, we stood by each others' sides. We pulled each other through.

He helped me to be stronger. I gave him joy. We stuck with each other, like all friends do.

I wanted him to be more than just a friend. Little did I know that he felt the same way too.

I thought he liked somebody else. He thought I wasn't over with the past.

So we remained friends. We promised each other we'd be best friends forever.

We talked. We laughed. We had fun.

2nd month.

One day, I told him.

"I like you," I said. "More than just a friend."

"I'm sorry," was his reply.

I was disappointed. I thought he liked somebody else.

Little did I know that thus was his reply, because he thought I wasn't over with the past.

I liked him. But I never brought it up again.

Because I thought he still liked her. Because I thought he'd never have feelings for me. Forever the Best Friend, never the One.

3rd month.

Eventually, I got closer to someone else.

When he saw where I was drifting to, he talked to me.

"I like you," he said. "More than just a friend."

"I'm sorry. You're too late," was my reply.

I didn't want to complicate things, so I did the easiest thing I could think of. Being best friends.

He cried inside. I didn't know.

He told me how happy he was for my new found love.

I told him about my feelings and experiences. He laughed with me and told me he was happy for me.

Didn't he know that deep down, he was the only person I wanted to share all those experiences with?

Little did I know that he felt the same way too. Little did I know that every time he laughed the hardest, deep inside, he was crying the hardest.

4th month.

I regretted telling him he was too late. He never was.

I was always still waiting for him.

Why couldn't I see that in fact, he was the one waiting for me?

5th month.

As the days went by, I grew weary with my new found 'love'.

All I thought of was him.

I wish I knew he was thinking of me too.

6th month.

He talked to me a second time.

"Do you know that I still like you?" he said.

I replied, "I'm sorry."

I didn't say more.

We remained friends. Best friends, like we promised each other we'd be.

We talked. We laughed. We had fun.

But I couldn't hold it in any longer.

7th month.

"I like you," I told him. "More than just a friend."

He was happy. Happy to finally hear me tell him this, after waiting for so long.

We talked. We laughed. We had fun. Most importantly, we knew our feelings. We both enjoyed the mutual sharing of blossoming friendship.

8th month.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" he asked over the phone one day.

I couldn't hear because of the bad line.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" he asked a second time.

I still couldn't hear him.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" he asked again.

"Yes." I replied.

He couldn't hear me over the bad line.

"Yes!" I said again.

He still couldn't make out what I said.

"YESSS!!!" I yelled.

***

After eight months of waiting, he finally heard what he wanted to hear.

I was happy.

He was happy.

And we still are.

My hobby? Bag collecting.

I bought a new bag at Queensbay yesterday.

A Pet Shop bag.

Really, really cute.

RM 69.00.

Not too expensive, right

I love my new bag!!!!

My new Pet Shop bag. Cuteness!!!

Also, I just found out that the Pet Shop purse that Kevin got me for my birthday last year was not cheap.

Not cheap as in, you wouldn't buy something with that price if you only treated her as 'a friend'.

Of course, unless you're filthy rich.

*grins*

Speaking of bags, I've lost count of my collection a long time ago, so I decided to browse through to see if I had any forgotten bags hidden my closet.

I discovered a bag haven. Bags I never knew I owned.

I counted, and I realised that I've got about 20 over bags.

The latest would be my Pet Shop bag. Following, a Nike tote bag, Roxy handbag (which I seldom use nowadays), Billabong handbag (Got it for Chinese New Year 2 months ago, but I now only sometimes use it because it's ridiculously sized and I have difficulty fitting my hand phone plus my wallet in it), Billabong sling bag (which I NEVER use, *vows to use it soon*), Roxy backpack (I used it during my college days), Body Glove backpack (which I'm never going to use again 'cause it's just plain childish), Fila handbag (that, I have only used about 5 times since I've bought it, and it's now collecting dust), Extreme tote bag (too huge for my taste), Extreme hand bag cum sling bag (also untouched), a Kipling backpack (which Kevin's mum cunningly convinced me to buy, despite the fact that it cost *cries* RM 400. So far, I've only used it twice *cries even more*), a bag my mother got me from China which supposedly cost above RM 100 (that, I still use occasionally because although it's brandless - yes, I hate using brandless bags, it's still a gift from my mum. Plus, it's expensive. I don't wanna waste my mum's money), Body Glove sling bag (I HATE Body Glove stuff so I'm DEFINITELY NOT using that anytime soon), a tiny handbag from Padini (which I will never use again 'cause it's ancient and stupid), another similar-to-Padini bag from Maggie-T (how childish!), and a few other brandless bags (embarrassingly, some of them even sport the word 'NIKE'
- gosh, who would believe it's the original? - in bold letters) which, of course, I'd rather die than being seen using them.

Among the few brandless bags - which I ignorantly bought when I was younger - are:

Two fake Nike sling bags, a colourful striped bag (yes, I know how ugly it is) from Prangin Mall, another black sling bag from a pasar malam, and a few other bags I got for free.

To think that I actually yayed over the fact that i received free bags when I was younger.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not discriminating against those who use 'brandless' or fake bags; I'm just more accustomed to using, well, other kinds of bags.

Now I know why my closet is so congested.

Mystery solved!!!

Of all the bags I own, I only use 5 of them. The Nike tote bag, the Pet Shop bag (it's still new though; only time will tell if it'll soon be one of the 'forgotten' bags), the Roxy hand bag (though not that often), my Billabong hand bag, and the bag my mum got me from China (which is least used, among the five).

The rest are kept in my closet. For future use.

"Future use".

Heh.

Wonder when that will be.

Staff Development

Woke up at SEVEN IN THE FREAKING MORNING.

On. A. Saturday.

A fiuf-ing Saturday.

For some staff development thingy.

So.

They had this 'talk' on how to be better teachers.

The speaker (supposedly some kind of Ph.D holder) told us to take a piece of paper to take down notes while he spoke.

Here are my notes:

Heh, heh.

Butterflies in my stomach

Referring to Jasryn's latest blog post, The How-To Manual, I was reminded of an incident.

Just a random memory picked from my (sometimes dysfunctional) brain.

There was once when he (you know who) was cooking chicken chops at my place (no kidding! At my place!!!) and he was sweating all over because the kitchen was kinda stuffy and well, you know... just looking at the way he was concentrating on the cooking made butterflies magically materialize in my stomach.

I was so tempted to take a tissue to wipe the sweat off his head, but didn't have the guts to at that time.

=(

Imagine if I did it.

He'd be so shocked.

*winks*

Damn, another tagged blog entry.

I got tagged. Again.

Whoopee.

5 easy steps:

1) Put your music player on shuffle.
2) Press forward for each question
3) Use the song title as the answer to the question.
4) With the answers, comment on how it relates to the question.
5) Tag your mates

How am I feeling today?
I drive myself crazy - Nsync
Yeah, maybe I am going a little crazy. What with dealing with rowdy students every single day, missing Kevin to bits, having to set exam papers, and my driving test which is due tomorrow. Help.

Will I get far in life?
Just Lose It - Eminem
Yeah, baby! Lose the bad, embrace the good being politically correct, and you'll go as far as you want!

How do my friends see me?
Unbreak My Heart - Toni Braxton
My heart had been broken once before, and if it were not for my beloved friends, I would still be that wounded pathetic pile of mess. I feel really thankful to all my friends for helping me 'unbreak' my heart
when I was in distress and helping me to see that I can now love again. Love you guys!!!

A very special thank you to Kevin for standing by me no matter what. Even though I was grieving over another guy.

Will I get married?
Beat Of My Heart - Hilary Duff
As sure as the beat of my heart.

What is my best friend's theme song?
God Is a Girl - Groove Coverage
That explains why women's brain are made for multitracking but men's are for monotracking. Also explains why women have no problem multitasking but most men find it very difficult. It is also why women are able to have multiple orgasms but men's only pride is being able to pee standing.

*scoffs*

My best friend is a girl. I'm a girl. See, it all makes sense.

What's the theme song of my life?
Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton
Yes, romantic nights are always wonderful.

So is my life.

What was high school like?
Superwoman (remix) - Lil Mo feat. Fabulous
You could call me a superwoman. Not the super hero kind, though. I was super in the sense that, I was a big bully at school. And there were kids who actually feared me because of that.

Am I super, or what?

What is in store for this weekend?
Can't Get You Out Of My Head - Kylie Minogue
Can't get Kevin out of my head because he's gonna get his phone back this weekend and I can finally talk to him again. Yay!!!

Looking forward to this weekend!

How is my life going?
Praise Him - Smokie Norful
Praise Him. A Christian song. Yup, God is playing an important part in my life. Life's going well.

When can you get ahead of life?
Drama Queen - Lindsay Lohan
I tend to get a little dramatic at times. I know lots of people who love me for that (I know I'm vain); they claim I'm 'cute' when I overreact. And they have a good laugh about it, too.

"Oh my gosh, Rachel's reaction is so cute, just like a little kid!! Hahahaha!!"

Having lots and lots of recognition, that's when I can get ahead of my life.

What's the best thing about your friends?
Wish - Alien Ant Farm
My friends always wish the best for me.

What song will they play at my funeral?
Meteor Garden Theme - F4
Gosh, isn't that like, a love song? Hmm... Shows that there'll be lotsa people who's gonna miss me when I'm gone. Haha!

How does the world see me?
I've Never Been To Me - Charlene
The world may see me as a girl who is never true to herself, because that's how I usually present myself: as a superficial dumb blond who just wants to have fun. But my true friends know better.

How can I make myself happy?
Everyday - Phil Collins
Live everyday to the fullest.

Nah, I don't believe in doing that.

Mostly, I just succumb to my
eccentric (and sometimes dangerous) impulsive urges. Which, unfortunately, I seem to have everyday.

My motto? Do now, regret later.

What should I do with my life?
Fabulous - Sharpay of High School Musical 2
Being fabulous. It gets you lots of attention. Trust me.

Will I ever have children?
Screwed - Paris Hilton
When I get screwed, yes.

This is so damn ironic.

What song would you strip to?
Rendezvous - Craig David
Nice song. Good beat.

What does your mom think of you?
March 9 - 1 Litre Of Tears subtheme song
1 Litre of Tears is a show about how a girl becomes ill with an incurable disease which gets worse and worse as she gets older, and how her family and friends (including her mother) helped her get through life.

Well, I guess that answers the question.

What is your deep, dark secret?
Our Lips Are Sealed - Hilary Duff
Ah... Perfect answer.

What is your mortal enemy's theme song?
Mosh - Eminem
Mosh is about anger, terrorism, and war. Apparently, it's also an anti-Bush song because a part of the lyrics says "fuck Bush". Which, of course, I partly agree.

Anyway, I guess that would pretty much describe my enemy. You know, being brutal (not always in the literal sense) and all.

What is your personality like?
Let Me Die - Nicholas Tse
Noooooooooooo!! That's so not my personality!!!

I'm an outgoing, extroverted, and positive girl!!!

I love my life! I don't wanna die!

What song will be played at your wedding?
Soldier - Destiny-s Child feat. Lil Wayne
I'll be a faithful soldier to my future husband.

Your overall theme song?
Loop De Loop - Spongebob Squarepants
HAHAHAHA!!! A SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS SONG AS MY OVERALL THEME SONG??

LOL!!

Yup, I'm a childish person and I (still) love cartoons.

So I guess this song best describes me.

Do I HAVE TO tag people? I feel so damn lazy...

*sigh*

Jasryn (I know you tagged me, but I feel like tagging you again), Lynn, Abby.

Just so you know, I've got like over 1000 songs in my playlist. 1016, to be exact.

Oh, wait.

I just finished downloading 'Tokyo Drift'. That makes it 1017.

So please excuse me if some of the songs' titles sound weird. I tend do download some, uh, not so common songs.

Wait!!! It's 1018 now. Just finished downloading another new song.

P.S. : Although Hilary Duff appeared twice, I assure you, it's just plain coincidence. I am NOT a big fan of hers. I just happen to have some of her songs.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT associate me with her.

the new generation word

Fuck is a universal word.

Very useful indeed.

1. It can be used to address a person.
Example: "Hey, fuck(er)!! How are you lately?"

2. Used as a noun.
Example: "That fuck(er) pissed me off!!!"

3. As a verb.
Example: Peter fucked Jane.

4. As an adverb.
Example: "Can't you fucking run faster?"

5. To express anger or displeasure.
Example: *someone who has just crushed a hammer on his entire hand* "FUCK!!!!"

6. Used to put emphasis on a word.
Example: I'm fucking, fucking, fucking cute.

Seriously.

Note: The first "fucking" is used to emphasize on the second "fucking", which in turn places even more emphasis on the third "fucking". Therefore, at the end of the sentence, the word "cute" would be placed more emphasis on than if only a single "fucking" was used. In other words, the more times the word "fuck(ing)" appears before a word, the more that word is emphasized.

7. Used as an adjective.
Example: Harry is fucked up.

8. Used as a superlative.
Example: Harry is fucking fucked up.

With such a variety of usages, it's no wonder why the word is so popular.

It's such a waste that the government still hasn't legalised it's usage in official matters.

Also, I'm pretty sure the number of high achievers in essay based examinations would see a high rise.

Every time a word doesn't register in your head at the exact moment you want to use it (I'm sure many students face this problem, especially in essay writing), just replace it with the word "fuck" and there you go! a perfect replacement for your what-was-that-word-again.

***

Kevin came up with a new word, with almost twice as many usages compared to "fuck".

Plus, the word isn't condemned by the society.

You're free to use it anytime, anywhere, with anyone. Even with your parents.

With so many advantages compared to "fuck", I don't see why it can't be the new generation's universal word.

"Fuck" is so last year's.

The word that Kevin came up with:

"Fiuf".

1. As a greeting.
Example: *When you meet up with a friend at work/school/shopping malls/etc.* "Fiuf!"
In this context, the word 'fiuf' means "hello" or "hi".

2. As a taunt.
Example 1: *When you see somebody trip over his/herself* "Fiuf lar you..."
In this context, it can mean "You're such a klutz", "Lousy lar you..." or even the plain "Hahahahaha!!".

Example 2:
*In a conversation*
Person 1: Oh no! I made a careless mistake!!!
Person 2: Fiuf!!!!!!!
In the context above, the word 'fiuf' may bring about a meaning of "Yay!! You made a mistake!", "Serves you right!" or, just the plain "Hahahahaha!".

3. As a random word when you run out of things to say, but don't want to feel awkward.
Example:
*In a conversation*
Person 1: ...
Person 2: ...
Person 1: Fiuf!!
Person 2: What?
Person 1: Oh, nothing...

Conversely, Person 2 could also have replied in this manner:
Person 1: ...
Person 2: ...
Person 1: Fiuf!!
Person 2: Fiuf!!!
Person 1: You la fiuf!!!

4. Used to address a person.
Example: Hey, fiuf!
In the above context, the sentence means something along the lines of "Hey, you!".

5. Used as a noun.
Example not available.

6. Used as a verb.
Example: "Don't fiuf lar..."
In the above context, the sentence may mean something along the lines of "Don't act dumb" or "Don't be stupid". It may also mean "Don't be rotten".

Not literally rotting, but being lousy.

7. Used as an adjective.
Example: "You are so fiuf."
In the above context, the word 'fiuf' brings about the meaning of being lousy, dumb, or any other word which describes the flaws of a person.

8. Used as an adverb.
Example: "Please fiuf drink your milk."
(However, the word 'fiuf' is rarely used in this context.)

9. Used to put emphasis on a word.
Example: *A real life snippet from my text message to Kevin* "Hey, I'm fiuf sleepy. Good night!"

10. Used as a superlative.
Example:
*A real life snippet from Kevin's text message* "Why are you so fiuf slow?"

11. Used to express anger or displeasure.
Example: *Feeling pissed off* "FIUF!!!"
In the above context, the word 'fiuf' may mean "fuck" or "damn".
(You see, 'fiuf' can be a very good replacement for coarse words whenever you have the urge to say them within your parents' earshot.)

So when a person says the word 'fiuf' to you, bear in mind that it could very well be a greeting, a taunt, a random word, etc.

Variations of the word 'fiuf' includes 'fifu', 'fifi', and 'fufu'. (The latter two are less common; and yes, that's how my deceased hamsters' names came about.)

To see more practical examples of the usage of the word "fiuf", you may visit Kevin's Friendster profile. I've written several comments to him, most of which includes the word 'fiuf'. Kevin is one of my featured friends, so it should be pretty easy to search for him.

With a little practice and experience (either through reading or speaking), you will eventually be able to master the usage of the word.

Practice makes perfect.

English in Malaysia. The absurdity of it all

Watched Disney On Ice last Saturday.

Enjoyed it thoroughly. It was money well spent.

The guy playing Peter Pan was like SO SUPER HOT AND GORGEOUS!!!!!

I LOVE HIM!!!!

One look at his charming smile melts my heart.

I want him, I want him, I want him.

*kicks Kevin off the list*

Lol.

My favourite female character was Lilo. From Lilo and Stitch.

Lilo was a cutie. Unfortunately, Stitch wasn't all that adorable, like how we see it on TV. Instead of being all round and short and irresistibly cute, it was huge (a little taller than the other characters) and was shaped more like a grizzly bear instead of... well... Stitch himself.

Ugly, ugly, ugly.

BUT I LOVE PETER PAN!!!!

*drools*

There was this short meeting at school today, which involved all the Math and Science teachers.

Matter of discussion: The usage of English when conducting Science and Math lessons.

"There have been students who are complaining that some teachers still do not conduct the lesson in English."

Yeah, like it's my fault that the students stare blankly at me even when I converse in the simplest English.

"So our target is to conduct all Science and Math lessons fully in English by year 2010."

As I see it, my English is perfectly fine (heck, it's way above perfect, if you asked me). Sadly, that's not the case for some of my students.

If I were to conduct my Science lessons fully in English, more than half my students wouldn't understand what the heck I'm rambling on about.

"So I request that from now onwards, all teachers conduct their lessons in English."

Okaaaay... If you say so...

So do not blame me if all of them fail in their exams.

Apparently, our Malaysian government expects us teachers to possess a really, really, really bad command of English (even our own government has such low expectations. Can you imagine how fucking, fucking lousy the standard of English in our country is?) , because they even have this Self Learning computer programme thingy, especially for teachers to improve their English.

And they even have this Buddy System. It works this way.

A teacher (who supposedly possesses a good command of English) will be the 'buddy' to a group of other Math and Science teachers to 'help' them whenever they have any difficulties conducting the lesson in English. Or to give assistance in any problems regarding the oh-so-complicated English language.

Personally, I think my English is good enough. Better than my "buddy's", I dare say.

And they have this form where each Math/Science teacher has to fill in. To analyse the standard of English proficiency among teachers.

They ask questions like "Is your spoken English good enough to convey a message efficiently?"

For a moment, one may even think that English is some sort of new and foreign language to Malaysia. Like how French is to the Japanese. Or how Spanish is to the Orang Utans. You get the idea.

And then, you can even see questions this:

Write the number of times a month in which you use the following methods to improve your command of English:
☐ Dictionaries
☐ Internet access
☐ Journals/Magazines/Newspapers
☐ Library resources
☐ Other reading materials

Okay... So how do I answer this one?

I do read magazines, visit the library, and use the Internet (this, I proudly say, I do everyday without fail) but I don't think I do it to improve my command of English.

It's.. well, you know, just for leisure.

And they say I'm supposed to answer the questions honestly.

Being an honest person, I put '0' in all the boxes.

Then, there was this question:

What grade did you achieve for your English Language in your SPM examinations?

Uh, I got an A.

Duhhhhhh.

I have a feeling they're gonna have a hard time believing me.

You never do anything to improve your command of English yet you got an A for your English?

If our government can't trust us teachers to teach (not that they're to blame), why not just hire professionals from other countries?

Better than having us fill in long, boring, and tedious questionnaires.

Oh, wait. I forgot. We're not a rich country. We can't afford that.

Hahahaha.

Sorry.

I just can't help but laugh at the standard of English in our country.

The absurdity of it all.

Canteen day

You may think I'm lame, but Canteen Day got me hyped up.

Also a Yay Day because it didn't involve teaching.

Thus, lowering the probability of me having high blood pressure.

Photo loaded post.

Photos are arranged in chronological order.

Arrived at school in a considerable good mood. Visited the canteen. Students were setting up stalls.

In the gym, Steph and gang were setting up the Dance Machine Thingy.

Y'know, DDR.

I had a free 'trial' before they 'opened business'.

Too bad I didn't get anyone to take a picture of me dancing.

Shu Lyn (sorry if I misspelled the name) attempting the DDR.

Then, back to the canteen.

The 5Sc1 stall, a.k.a. the "I *heart* Me" stall.

"I *heart* Me" people preparing their food. I have their shirt too!!!

Next, the 3H stall. The one I patronised most. Chocolate fondue, seaweed crisps, DDR, and a manicure plus hand massage. All from 3H.

Thank me, guys!!!!

The sticks of marshmallow and grapes. Add on a piece of apple, a slice of banana, some hot melted choc, and VOILA!!! Chocolate fondue!!!

See, teachers are not always lazy. I helped them put the marshmallows on the skewers.

And that's me, being given the privilege to be the first to taste their fondue!!!

The teachers on duty. Selling coupons.

Pn. Ng selling her coupons...

And Lynn purchasing them.

I totally forgot to take a photo with Lynn!!!!!

Sobs.

After walking around a little bit, I went to the field and saw this interesting game:

People throwing soaked sponges at 'hostages'!!! (Can you see the water droplets on the air?)

RM 1 for two throws, RM 2 for five throws.

Lookit, the hostages' wrists are being tied together.

Then, back to the canteen for a manicure plus hand massage.

The 'manicurists' were in sleek black outfits (not to mention tight fitting), making them look very professional.

Yes, yes. I have a bad habit of judging books by their covers.

They even burned this sweet smelling oil, and the whole place was soooooo aromatic!!!

Soaking my hands in lemon water.

Their bottles of 'products', plus the burning oil.

After the lemon wash. All ready for manicuring.

They applied this massage cream on my hands and fingers and began massaging my hands.

A nice hand massage.

A better view of the whole stall. Nicely decorated with flower petals and perfumed with aromatic fragrance.

The two left most ladies were my manicurists.

Then, strolled around the canteen mindlessly a little more. Met Mei Mei and Ann Ting.

Left to right: Mei Mei, Ann Ting, me.

Some students even set up a 'song dedication' stall. 80 cents per song dedication.

The song dedicating section.

Met Jas!!!!

Long time no see!!!

Jas and I.

Sorry if the picture is a little blur.

And I found out that she has developed this weird english accent which I had a pretty hard time getting accustomed to.

Went back to the field for the sponge throwing game.

Me getting ready to throw the sponge at Rebecca's head. Btw, I do have a pretty slim body, haven't I?

That's Rebecca.

Unfortunately, I missed in both my two tries.

Geramness!!!!

I dedicated a song to myself for being pretty. Also dedicated it to Wei Lyn for providing me the 80 cents for the dedication.

Students dancing to the song.

More students dancing to the song.

At around 11 a.m., three students came to me, requesting that I bring them out for grocery shopping, because they ran out of ingredients.

You see, students are strictly not allowed out of the school premises without the accompaniment of a teacher.

Reluctantly (having filled my tummy, I had already settled down in a comfortable position, with my eyes glued on my PSP), I agreed.

At the school gate, the security guard stopped us. He asked me why I was going out.

I told him we had to get some ingredients.

He said that we're not allowed to leave.

Confused, I stared blankly at him.

One... Two... Three...

....

Oh!!!!!!

"I'm a teacher."

He let us out.

Back at school, I met Phaik Yean, Mariel, and Rebecca.

Phaik Yean and I.

Stupid, stupid, stupid Mariel messed up my hair.

Zzzz....

From left to right: Me, Mariel, and Rebecca. My hair's messed up.

I bought lots and lots of food. At the end of the day, here's what's left over:

As expected, I feel awfully fat now.

another Yay Day

Last night, I suddenly felt unwell.

Went to bed at 10 p.m..

TEN FREAKING P.M.!!!!

Nobody in their right minds sleeps that early!!!!!

A big achievement for me.

Unfortunately, at around 11 p.m., the air conditioning in my room went off. Something went wrong with the plug.

Partly my dad's fault, because the plug was already a little loose, and he touched it.

At the exact point of contact of the first atom of my dad's skin on the plug, the air conditioning went poof.

"AIYO!!"

And I woke up from my dad's gasp.

*sleepily annoyed* "What..."

"The air conditioning went off!!!"

Grr... If only you hadn't touched it...

He fumbled around a little more (which was also pretty annoying as I was trying my very best to sleep) and finally turned on the ceiling fan.

Hotness...

I began to sweat.

I kicked off the blanket.

My skin decided to secrete even more sweat.

STUPID AIR CONDITIONER!!!!!

As I was half asleep (and half sweating), my dad came in my room again. To fix the plug.

"Tsk!!!"

"Wait la!!! I fix the plug for you so that you can sleep with the air conditioner ma!!!"

Oh... Okay...

At that moment, the sleepiness began to wear away. Partly because I had been sleeping for two hours and because I wasn't used to going to bed early. Also because my dad was working noisily at the plug.

Apparently, my body decided that 10 p.m. was too early to be considered bed time, and it adjusted itself not to sleep mode, but nap mode.

Two hours of napping was, of course, enough to keep me going.

After about a considerable amount of eternities, the air conditioner finally worked again.

Whoo hoo!!! My dad's a professional electrician!!!!

YAY!!!! AIR CONDITIONING!!!!

Fell asleep again at about 12 a.m.. So much for going to bed at ten.

I slept soundly for the rest of the night.

When I woke up this morning, I was feeling so fresh.

Me: *strolling into the staff room while whistling a tune in my head* Good morning Pn. Peh!!! I don't feel sleepy at all!!

Pn. Peh: Wah!!!! First time in history!! What's your secret?

Me: I slept at ten last night!!! TEN YOU KNOW!!!! I holiao leh!!!

Pn. Peh: Whoa... Good that you've finally realised the secret to not feeling sleepy.

Me: *smiles widely* Yup!!!

...

Two hours later, I felt sleepy again.

Maybe it's just that I'm born to feel sleepy in the mornings. No matter what I do, I just can't seem to fight sleepiness the next day.

Despite that, today was still a Yay Day.

An unexpected one.

Gave the students a free period for P.E. today.

During both my Science classes...

"Teacher!!! Tomorrow is Canteen Day and we have a lot of preparations to make!! Please allow us to finish our work!!!"

So, I gave them free periods for that, too. Two periods for each class, four periods of free time in total.

Plus that one period of P.E. class, I gave the students five periods of free time in total.

I didn't do any teaching at all today.

Literally.

Whoopee!

Then, later in the afternoon, Kevin send me a text message.

It was kind of unexpected, because he's at National Service. They only get back their cell phones on weekends, so I was a little shocked when I received a message from him today.

A MESSAGE FROM KEVIN! YAY!!!

Also, after three days of constipation, I had diarrhoea today. Finally. A flat tummy.

Double yay!!

And then, tomorrow shall also be a very happy day for me because it's Canteen Day. which means I don't have to teach again.

As I've stated before, if there's something very pleasant happening the next day, the day before can also be called a Yay Day because it's on that day which the anticipation is the greatest.

With so many pleasant things happening today, I can't help but label today as yet another Yay Day.

***

I'm supposed to be setting exam papers for the upcoming Science exam, but I just can't help feeling awfully lazy.

Maybe I'll do it tomorrow.

Tonight shall be dedicated to talking to Kevin.

I'm in a very good mood.

Cheers!!!

Oops...kena tag

Got tagged by Jasryn and Lynn. Oh, well. At least it's something to occupy myself with.

INSTRUCTIONS

Remove ONE question from below, and add in your personal question, make it a total of 20 questions, then tag 8 people in your list, list them out at the end of this post. Notify them in their chat box that he/she has been tagged. Whoever does the tag will have blessings from all.

1. Do you believe in love at first sight?
Nope. Not at all.

2. If you were to be stranded on a deserted island, who are the 3 blog buddies you would take with you, and why?
Jasryn - Because she's a very witty blogger. Good command of English, too. Am an avid reader of her blog.
Lynn - Her blog can be interesting at times.
Yokey - Although she updates her blog only once in a blue moon (not to mention, her posts are all very short), I like how she's so subtle when she blogs.

3.What place do you want to go the most?
Singapore!!!!

4. Do you live to eat or eat to live?
I live to eat. Too much good food around.

5. What do you feel like doing right now?
Just got back from school. Darn sleepy.

I feel like sleeping.

6. What are you afraid to lose the most now?
My loved ones.

7. If you win $1 million, what would you do?
I'll go get the highly coveted iPod touch, a new cell phone, the mac book air (of which it's beauty is to die for), and a smart car. And then, I'll spend the rest on shopping sprees.

8. If you meet someone that you love, would you confess to him/her?
Yes. I am known to be a courageous girl.

9.List out 3 good points of the person who tagged you.
Jasryn - witty. smart. funny.
Lynn - friendly. funny. nice?

10. What are the requirements that you wish from your other half?
Hmm... That's a lot. First of all, my other half has to be male. Definitely male. He has to be smart (very smart), possess a good command of English, has high IQ, not too poor (I still want him to be able to spend on me!) responsible (the last guy I had was totally irresponsible and he pissed me off real bad), and has respectable fashion taste. The most important thing of all?

BEING SMART.

11. Which type of people do you hate the most?
Whores (not literally), people who are just fucking, fucking ugly but think otherwise, and people who speak the twit language. LYK DIZ. DO. NOT. DO. THAT.

12. Which do you prefer from your other half? A hug or a kiss?
A hug, I guess. Hmm... A kiss would be nice, too. Arrgh. I really dunno.

13. If you have faults, would you rather the people around you point out to you or would you rather they keep quiet?
I'd rather they point it out to me.

14. What do you think is the most important thing in your life?
Love, people, relationships.

15. Are you more afraid of failure or loss?
I'm more afraid of loss. If you fail, you can just try again. However, once you lose something you might never get it back. Besides, it's a very painful feeling to lose something. Trust me. I've been through a whole lot of shit; losing somebody, crying, losing a whole lot of weight, getting failing grades in my exams, and becoming a half-zombie. It was hell.

16. If given a choice, which animal would you opt to be, and why?
I'd want to be a homo Sapien.

17. What makes you feel disappointed?
When I don't get something I want.

Whatever I want, I get.

Period.

18. If given a chance, do you want to see your future?
I guess. But I'd decide otherwise.

19. What do your friends label you as?
Short. Hiau. Cute (It's true!!! There are a whole lot of people calling me cute!! Don't believe me? Ask them!!!).

20. Have you taken a bath in the past 12 hours?
No. Got back from school at 2p.m. and it's now 6. I'll get to it soon...

Now, for the hard part.

Everyone I know has been tagged before. I cant find anybody to tag!

Oh, well.

cut here

I bought Henna Tattoo today.

Here's what I drew:

My beloved PSP in the back!!!

I know it's plagiarism. Sorry, Jas. I really loved your idea.

***

I'm setting exam questions for Science Form 2 and 3.

They're gonna be damn tough.

Revenge.

MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

***

Wanted to blog about something else, but it slipped my mind.

Can't recall.

Sorry. Short post today.

New blog!! New blog!!!!

Ever had difficulty comprehending the sometimes chim English of my blog?

Fret not, for Raedarling Made Easy is finally here!!!!

So.

Raedarling Made Easy is specially set up for people who'd rather read my thoughts the less sophisticated way (we're Malaysians, anyway!). Also for the blogger to blog without having to mind her grammar that much (finally!!!).

So from now on, I'm going to update both my blogs simultaneously. See, now you can even pick which version you want to view my blog in!

Raedarling Made Easy should interest some of you, as it is endless what you can do with language once the rules of English are off the load!!!!

Manglish. Dialects. Switch-talking. Awful grammar. Misspellings. Horrible sentence structure. Bad punctuation.

Voila! I'm finally a true Malaysian!

Mosquito

When people visit mosquito infested places, they normally wear long pants to prevent blood consumption by unwanted pests.

There was this giant mosquito. Really, really huge.

I ignored it.

Then...

A sting on my thigh.

Ouch.

My hand slapped at the sting and the mosquito's body was smeared across my hand.

Mind you, I was wearing jeans.

Long jeans.

I do not understand how the mosquito managed to penetrate it.

Levi's, I want my 200 bucks back. Your jeans aren't thick enough to protect me from blood suckers.

Oh, btw, Kevin proposed.

Yay!

Tama. V5.

Yesterday was fun.

Sports Day was... uh... interesting.

I think.

Anyway.

Kevin's mum picked me at 4 p.m. . Kevin, Renee, Gary (a friend of Kevin's from National Service) and I went to Gurney Plaza. Walked around a bit. Caught a movie. Had dinner.

Then, I went to Toys "R" Us and bought a brand new Tamagotchi!!!!

RM 79.90.

I know what you're thinking.

Why do I have to freaking waste my money on a new Tamagotchi when I already have one at home??????

You see, the one I have at home is a Version 4. This brand new one is a Version 5. Version 4 is the older and outdated version. Version 5 is the latest one.

See, huge difference.

As you can see (from the blur LCD screen; that's why i hate taking photos of electronic devices. The pictures on the screens are never clear), the Version 5 can house three Tama's at once, while the older versions allow you to keep only one pet each time.

Cute leh!!!!!

My old Version 4 is left on my table, untouched.

New come, old go.

Kevin is going back to NS tomorrow.

I'm gonna cry.

Yay Day.

To most people, tomorrow is a Wednesday.

Just a Wednesday.

For me, tomorrow is a Yay Day.

Let me explain to you what Yay Days are.

They're usually the beginnings of holidays or the beginning of something exciting. They usually fall on weekends, but they occasionally fall on weekdays, too. Like tomorrow. Yay Days are normally affiliated with holidays, trips, and the likes but in this case (which is quite rare), it falls on a work day.

What makes a day a Yay Day:
1. Holidays.
2. Going for trips with friends.
3. Suddenly being relieved of a huge responsibility.
4. Doing something exciting, which I have been looking forward to for ages.
5. Finally getting something long coveted.

So.

Tomorrow is a Yay Day.

Tomorrow, I've got two classes of P.E., which, on usual times, I'll loathe to death. However, I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's P.E. classes because I've told my students that we're not going to the gym.

Thus, eliminating the need to yell across the gym fifty times for each student, getting frustrated about having to remind them over and over again to bring their P.E. attire (and later reluctantly giving them demerit marks as a punishment - oh btw, I gave demerit marks to the entire class today because they did not change into their P.E. attire) but still being turned a deaf ear on, and controlling them from running all over the place. Not to mention skipping P.E. altogether without my knowledge because it's virtually impossible to keep track of every student in the gym.

Instead, we're going to have discussions in class. Which means they're probably going to 'discuss' in their own groups, while I sit at the teacher's table, enjoying my new cell phone game.

Just kidding.

I had to add that I was just kidding, in case some smart-aleck comes across this and tells it all to Pn. Wong, and eventually getting me fired.

So that's the plan for the four periods of classes before recess.

After recess, I've got two Science classes.

The first, I fucking, fucking hate, because the students of that class NEVER PAY ATTENTION and they TALK FUCKING LOUDLY and are always fucking late for classes and one even had the guts to use the computer in the science lab to play Solitaire. During lessons. Even when I told her she wasn't allowed to do that, she insisted that she wanted to.

Jeez, I'm the teacher here. Not you.

Most of the time, she'd trudge away from the computer back to her seat with a disappointed look. At random intervals, she'd remind me that she wanted to use the computer.

Anyway, tomorrow they won't be in school because they're going for this motivational seminar for students.

YAY!!!! I DON'T HAVE TO TEACH THEM TOMORROW!!!!!

As for the second class, I'm coming to the end of the chapter. All that's left is about how to conserve and preserve (both words seem the same to me, though) the environment.

"Okay kids, so in order to preserve the environment, you'll have to stop chopping trees, practice car pooling, establish forest reserves, and stop littering into the sea."

"End of chapter."

Can't get any easier than that.

Also, tomorrow Her Wuen is finally giving me a tuna mix for my pie tee!! Yay!!!

I love tuna.

Another reason to label tomorrow as a Yay Day.

Coincidentally, Kevin is also coming back tomorrow. Which means I can finally talk to him on the phone with a decent connection, unlike the fucking, fucking annoying horrid connection at his National Service camp.

Half of our conversations were filled with unnecessary hellos and I-can't-hear-yous.

Or, if he calls me using the public phone, his voice will sound so distant that I have to press the receiver onto my ear to hear him. And it's blood-suckingly expensive. RM 1 for 5 minutes of hey-your-voice-is too-distants and I-(still)-can't-hear-yous.

And there's a long que, so he can't even talk on the phone for long.

When he gets home tomorrow, I'm gonna call him and we're gonna talk to our heart's content.

DOUBLE YAY DAY!!!!!!

And then, we're going out for a movie and dinner on Thursday. I really can't wait to see him again. I miss him sooooo much!!!!!

The excitement of going out with him on Thursday has infected even up till today.

I forgot to add. Being able to look forward to something on the next day can also be a plus point to make it a Yay Day. But only if the excitement is really, really, really huge. Being able to look forward to be able to look forward to Yay Day though, does not make that day eligible to be considered as a Yay Day.

I know the rules are complicated. Sorry.

Anyway, by tomorrow, the infection will be even more, enough to make it another reason to call it Yay Day.

And then, since I'm going out on Thursday with him, it will yet be another Yay Day.

Getting a Yay Day is one thing to be happy about, but getting TWO YAY DAYS IN A ROW????

MADNESS!!!!!!!

Call me the luckiest girl on earth, 'cause that's how I'm feeling right now.

Usually, when it's Yay Day on the very next day, the final few hours of the previous day are called Yay Hours.

It's Yay Hours now.

Yay, yay, yay!
